207 Maker's Market

One of the upcoming goals for our shop is to focus on adding our in-store items to our online shop early next year. This will allow folks to purchase things and either have them shipped or pick them up in the shop.

In an effort to make things a little less chaotic on our website, we will be transitioning our Maker's Market information to a new website. Do not worry, this is 100% still our Maker's Markets.

We will be adding information for our 2024 Market season to the new website!

Frequently Asked Questions

What space types do you offer?

Currently (September 2022) we have two space types, BYO (Bring Your Own) and 8' (8' Table & Cloth).

How big is the BYO (Bring Your Own) space?

The space is 8 feet wide by 6 feet deep.  Any displays OUTSIDE of the allotted area will need to be removed.

How big is the 8' table space?

The 8' space is 8 feet wide by 6 feet deep.  The table provided is 8 feet wide by 2 feet deep. We provide one table cloth that is floor length on all sides (great way to hide additional items!) and each spot is provided with one folding metal chair.  We do have additional folding chairs, if you need them.
Due to the size of the table and chairs, we do NOT ALLOW ANY FLOOR STANDING DISPLAY UNITS with this space type.

Why is your space so small?

We host the markets in the hall of the Auburn Mall.  We work with the space that we are allotted by the mall.  The reason for this space is that there are several shops inside the mall and we need to have safe space for customers for those shops and our fair to travel without hindrance.

Do you provide electricity?

We do not offer electricity for our markets.  The reason for this is that there are outlets scattered throughout the mall.  We are not in a position to cover the additional risk of tripping hazards that cords being run adds.  We are also not able to commit to the outlets not being used by the mall itself.

Can I book multiple spots in each fair?

Currently, we have a one-person/one-place rule in effect.  This is due to the obstacles we must work around during placement (planters, kiosks, intersections of halls, etc).  If you want to be near a friend, you can make that request and we will try our best to honor it.
On occasion, we do offer a limited amount of double spaces. This typically happens closer to the event, when others have had the chance to apply. If we have space remaining, we will offer double spaces.

Can I select my own spot?

You cannot select your own space.  We work really hard to make sure that you are not placed near makers who may make similar items.  If we allow makers to select their own spaces, we lose the ability to ensure makers are spread out.

Why were my items waitlisted?

In an effort to ensure that we have a good variety for our customers while maintaining the ability to spread makers out and not have them placed near similar items, we cap categories at about 10% of the total fair.  This means that if your items are in a popular category (crochet, sewing, and jewelry tend to be the fastest filling categories) and you did not apply early, your items will likely be waitlisted.

This does NOT mean that we have another person who is making the exact same thing that you are.  It means that if we get closer to the fair, and we do not have anyone making those specific items and have spaces available, we would reach out to see if you were still interested in a spot.  It is nothing personal.  It is literally just to try and bring in as much of a variety as we possibly can.

What if I changed my mind about the space type that I wanted?

The simple answer is to contact us via email as soon as possible and see if we have any of the other space types available.  If we have spaces remaining in the type you want, we have no problem making that change.

What if I am mad because I did not read the questions that I answered on the application?

Sorry?

We have had several instances where people are angry that they are not permitted to bring floor displays when they have opted for our 8' table space... It is CLEAR on the application (I know, because a) I wrote it and b) when THEY complained, I checked - it was right there clearly spelled out) that regardless of the space type selected you are allotted an 8'x6' space.  It is also CLEAR that since our tables are 8'x2', we do NOT permit additional floor standing displays.

It does NOT matter how much you feel like you can spread out (due to placement of obstacles, some spaces do appear like they could be wider), we do placement once ALL applications are completed (again, to ensure we spread people apart from similar items).  Meaning - We have NO way of knowing which space type you will have prior to completing the placement.  It is NOT fair to ALL MAKERS if we allow some to go outside of their spaces, while others follow the rules.

What if I am asked to remove items/displays and I decide not to?

The short and sweet of that is that it is ultimately a free country, and you will not do prison time if you decide not to follow the rules... What WILL happen is that you will find your next fair application denied because you are obviously NOT interested in following the rules that ensure that we can continue to host fairs at the Auburn Mall.  We enjoy the fairs, they are a TON of work, but we genuinely enjoy seeing all of our local makers and being able to provide them a space to display and sell their items.  If you are NOT following the rules, we have to assume that you do not feel the same way about the fairs that we do.
